Transylvania University and fourth-year head coach Lauren Bickford were second in this year's preseason coaches' poll, totaling five first-place votes and 134 points. Saint Vincent College and seventh-year head coach Jym Walters, runners-up in the last two ORLC Championship Tournaments, netted the final first-place vote and 125 points to finish third.

Hanover College was picked fourth (101) and was followed by Mount St. Joseph University in fifth (86), Franklin College in sixth (85), Thiel College in seventh (62), Thomas More College in eighth (57), Westminster College in ninth (54), Chatham University in 10th (44), Waynesburg University in 11th (28) and Earlham College in 12th (23).

New to the ORLC this season are Chatham, led by first-year head coach Alyssa Batty, and Earlham, led by second-year head coach Molly Macdonald

Last spring, top-seeded W&J earned its second-straight ORLC title and claimed the league's first-ever automatic qualifying bid into the Division III Championship field with a 15-8 victory over third-seeded Saint Vincent at Alexandre Stadium in Washington, Pennsylvania. The Division III Championship appearance was the first in program history for the Presidents.

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the creation of the single-sport Ohio River Lacrosse Conferences on June 3, 2014 and kicked off their inaugural seasons in 2015.

Seven PAC member schools and five HCAC member schools will compete in the women's conference this season. The men's and women's leagues will both complete full round-robin schedules with championship tournaments to follow the conclusion of their regular seasons.

This year's ORLC Women's Championship Tournament will feature a four-team field, with the top seed hosting all three tournament matches. On Friday, May 4 the number one seed will take on the number four seed, followed by the match between the number two and three seeds. The tournament's title match will be played on Saturday, May 5.

For only the second time since the creation of the ORLC, the winner of the women's championship tournament will receive one of 29 automatic qualifying bids to this year's Division III Championship. The 42-team championship bracket is scheduled to be announced on Sunday, May 6 with first round matches scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
