IWLCA Names 2017 Division III All Region Teams (iwlca.org)
GRAND LAKE, Colo. (pacathletics.org) – Washington & Jefferson College junior midfielder Caroline Kallos (Reading, Pa. | Governor Mifflin) and senior defender Katelynn Linthicum (Stewartstown, Pa. | York Catholic) were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-West Region Second Team for the first time in their careers Friday afternoon.
Kallos, the reigning two-time Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) Defensive Player of the Year, finished tied for second on W&J and tied for fourth in the ORLC with 77 points this season, scoring 56 goals and assisting on 21 more. Her 77 points this season gives her 226 in her nearly three full years as a President, ranking her second in program history. Kallos, a seven-time ORLC Defensive Player of the Week, led the conference in ground balls (96) and caused turnovers (62) while finishing third in the league with 75 draw controls.
Linthicum also had a strong defensive season for ORLC champion W&J, picking up 46 ground balls and causing 34 turnovers to rank second on the team in both categories. She now has 120 ground balls in her career, the sixth-most in program history, to go along with 84 career caused turnovers, fourth-most in W&J history.
W&J (13-4) will travel Washington, D.C. to face 13th-ranked Catholic University of America (12-6) in the second round of NCAA Division III Championship Sunday at 1 p.m.
