GREENWOOD, Ind. --- Thiel College claimed two ORLC victories last week over Chatham and Earlham.
The Tomcats defeated Chatham 7-6 earlier in the week in overtime before defeating Earlham 27-0 on Saturday. Senior Brennen O'Shea led Thiel last week with seven goals and one assist, including the game-winner over Chatham in overtime.
The Transylvania Pioneers claimed a 25-2 win over Mount St. Joseph last week as well as a 21-5 victory over Westminster on Saturday. Sophomore T.J. Toivonen led the Pioneers defense with two goals, two assists, 18 ground balls, and 12 caused turnovers in the Transy victories.
Grove City improved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in ORLC play on Saturday with a 15-4 win over Washington & Jefferson. The Wolverines were led by Henry Brannan and Aidan Morse who both contributed four goals in the win. In goal, senior Ben Dumm recorded a season-high 14 saves.
The Hanover College Panthers claimed a 13-5 victory over Chatham on Saturday in their only matchup of the week. The Panthers were led by Joseph DeLeo who tallied four goals and two assists in the win.
Mount St. Joseph University claimed its first win of the season on Saturday against Bethany. The Lions defeated the Bison 9-5 and were led by Jesse Purdy with five goals and three assists. Purdy also contributed two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the victory.

ORLC Players of the Week ...
Thiel senior midfielder Brennen O'Shea (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) has been named the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week on offense. The senior recorder eight points in two ORLC victories last week. O'Shea scored two goals, including the game-winner in overtime in a 7-6 win over Chatham on Thursday. In Saturday's 27-0 win against Earlham, the senior scored five goals and tallied one assist while contributing a total of three ground balls on the week. The Thiel Tomcats (3-5, 2-2 ORLC) will travel to La Roche on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
Transylvania's sophomore defender T.J. Toivonen (Sherwood, Ore. / Sherwood) has been named the Ohio River Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week on defense. The sophomore tallied two goals and two assists as the Pioneers went 2-0 in ORLC play last week. Toivonen contributed five ground balls and eight caused turnovers in a 25-1 victory over Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday. He then added 13 ground balls and four caused turnovers during Saturday's 21-5 win over Westminster. The Transylvania Pioneers (5-5, 3-1 ORLC) will host Centre on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and Grove City on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Transylvania was selected as this year's favorite in the ORLC men's preseason coaches' poll, which was voted on by the league's head coaches. The results of the preseason coaches' poll were unveiled along with the league's players to watch list on Feb. 9. The Pioneers, led by head coach Terry Justice, received nine of a possible 11 first-place votes and 116 total points. Transylvania has claimed the last three ORLC Championship Tournament titles.
The ORLC features three new programs this season – Chatham University (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Earlham College (Richmond, Ind.), and Grove City College (Grove City, Pa.). Chatham is led by Phil Dodson while Jason Grace leads Earlham, and Alec Jernstedt leads Grove City in its inaugural season.
ORLC to receive bid to NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship ...
For the second time since the creation of the ORLC in 2014, the winner of the ORLC Championship Tournament will receive one of just 29 automatic qualifying bids to this year's NCAA Division III Lacrosse Championship ... The 40-team championship bracket is scheduled to be announced on Sunday, May 6 with first round games scheduled for Saturday, May 12.
